Chronic Pain Syndromes

Chronic pain is pain that has been present for a minimum of three to six months and according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), effects approximately 28% of the U.S. population. Suffering from chronic pain will often impact an individual's ability to work, having a social life, caring for yourself and/or others and may result in depression, anxiety, and difficulty sleeping. Chronic pain comes in several forms, including: joint/bone pain, cancer pain, migraine headaches, muscle pain (fibromyalgia), and neurogenic (nerve) pain.

Ketamine Therapy for Chronic Pain Syndromes

As outlined in the 2018 Consensus Guidelines on the Use of Intravenous Ketamine Infusions for Chronic Pain From the American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, The American Academy of Pain Medicine, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists, ketamine infusions should be considered for the following:
-Neuropathic (nerve) pain
-Traumatic spinal cord injury
-Phantom Limb Pain (PLP)
-Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN)
-Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)
-Fibromyalgia
-Chronic ischemic pain
-Chronic Lyme Disease

It is important to note that ketamine is often a last resort for patients with chronic pain and that reduction in pain by approximately 30% is considered a positive result.

CRPS Ketamine Fibromyalgia Treatment

Southwest Ohio Ketamine and IV Therapy Center  is currently providing ketamine therapy for patients diagnosed with many of the pain disorders listed above. We require a confirmed diagnosis of the above pain disorders from a licensed medical provider prior to proceeding with ketamine infusion and we also accept referrals.

Initial treatment for the above chronic pain disorders consists of 5-10 daily, 4-hour ketamine infusions. After the initial induction series, we recommend 1-2 consecutive booster infusions on a monthly basis.

If you or a loved one is suffering from chronic pain and have run out of options for pain relief, ketamine therapy may be right for you. Contact us today to schedule an appointment for an evaluation by our qualified nurse practitioner and/or to answer any questions that you may have.
